Dalbeattie Visitor Information Point

Dalbeattie Visitor Information Point was set up in 2007 to provide information to visitors coming to the town. It also provides information and leaflets for residents for such things as bus timetables, forthcoming activites, tide times etc.

When a group of local volunteers under the auspices of Dalbeattie Discovery Centre Group discovered that no funding or help was available for this much needed resource for visitors to Dalbeattie, they set up their own information point within Dalbeattie Community Initiative office and staffed it with volunteers. This service is available daily between 10am and 4pm in the peak holiday period of July and August , and also at weekends throughout the season.

With the increasing volume of visitors to the town, Dalbeattie Community Initiative office could no longer accommodate the Visitor Information Centre as well as conducting its normal work, so in 2010 the new Visitor Information and Craft Centre opened in the little shop opposite the Library. You can also telephone them on 01556 612752.

As with the initial venture, this too is proving to be  a huge success, and already had its 1000 visitor by early July. Thanks to the volunteers who helped out and gave freely of their time, making this possible.

More volunteers are always needed to help at the Visitor Information Centre, so if you have some knowledge of Dalbeattie and the surrounding area and enjoy working directly with the public, maybe you would like to volunteer to help this year or even next year. If so, drop in to the VIP or to Dalbeattie Inititive Office for further information.

When the VIP closes at the end of the holiday season, information will still be available during office opening hours at Dalbeattie Community Initiative.
