Bus Timetables
Did you know that a full list of the bus timetables for Dumfries and Galloway is available on Dumfries and Galloway Council Transport Miniweb?
Click on http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/index. From there it is easy to click on the particular timetable you need, and hey presto, all the information is there. There may be a snag, however. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to download the timetables. If you do not have it, it is still worth clicking on to the miniweb, since from there you can click on an Acrobat Reader Download which then enables you to access the timetables. Clear as mud?
If you have difficulties, get someone with a little more computer knowledge to help you. It's worth the effort. For people with a visual impairment there is help from Adobe to enable you to read documents. To find out how to do this, click on http://www.adobe.com.
For anyone who likes to travel independently but cannot manage the bus due to disability, there is a taxicard scheme available. More
National Entitlement Cards (NECs) are issued by the 32 Scottish councils and are just one element in a wider Scottish Government sponsored programme called Customer First which aims to encourage all local councils to share resources and create efficiencies to ensure that Scottish citizens have easier to access services and facilities at the first point of contact with their council. The National Entitlement Card giving you access to the Scotland-wide Fee bus scheme was introduced.
Anyone with any queries about the new scheme should contact the Sustainable Travel Team on 01387 260383 or visit http://www.transportscotland.gov.uk/ for further information.
