Bus Timetables

Did you know that a full list of the bus timetables for Dumfries and Galloway is available on Dumfries and Galloway Council Transport Miniweb?

Click on  http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2624 . From there it is easy to click on the particular timetable you need, and hey presto, all the information is there. There may be a snag, however. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to download the timetables. If you do not have it, it is still worth clicking on to the miniweb, since from there you can click on an Acrobat Reader Download which then enables you to access the timetables. Clear as mud?

If you have difficulties, get someone with a little more computer knowledge to help you. It's worth the effort. For people with a visual impairment there is help from Adobe to enable you to read documents. To find out how to do this, click on http://access.adobe.com.

For anyone who likes to travel independently but cannot manage the bus due to disability, there is a taxicard scheme available. More

And of course, for those over 60, from 1st April 2006 a New National Entitlement Card giving you access to the Scotland-wide Fee bus scheme was introduced. This new card gives people aged over 60 and disabled people access to free travel anywhere in Scotland (including Carlisle) on local buses and long distance scheduled coaches at any time of the day.

Anyone with any queries about the new scheme should contact the Sustainable Travel Team on 01387 260383 or visit http://www.transportscotland.gov.uk/ for further information.
