Do you know what your child is up to on Facebook, or who they are 'speaking' to?  How many friends do they have?  Some teens like to boast that they have over 1,000 friends!  Who are they - as it is highly unlikely your teenager knows 1,000 people.

To help you with those problems and more there is a booklet available online which is designed to help you understand what Facebook is and how to use it safely.  With it, you will be better informed and able to communicate with young Facebook users in your life. That's important because

1) if something goes wrong, we want our children to come to us and

2) as the Internet becomes increasingly social and mobile, a parent’s guidance and support are ever more key to young people’s well-being in social media and technology.

This booklet is called A Parent's Guide to Facebook.  There is also a website available called Connect Safely where you can get advice and tips and up to date news about what is going on both on mobile internet and on pc or laptop.  This site is called Connect Safely and is available at http:/www.connectsafely.org.
