Councils and Committees
Find your way around:
This section of the website is devoted to the various elected representatives of your Community. See the Menu on the left hand side of the page for the various sub-pages in this section.
We have several layers of government and representative bodies. As well as your local Member of Parliament who represents you at Westminster, there are also MSPs (Members of the Scottish Parliament). When the Scotland Act 1998 was passed it led to the establishment of the first Scottish Parliament since 1707. This devolution settlement was the result of many years of campaigning for devolved government in Scotland .
At a more local level, Dumfries and Galloway Council's Stewartry Area Committee has devolved powers of decision-making and have regular meetings at different venues in the Stewartry.
Dalbeattie Community Council consists of up to 12 voting members who directly represent your community and promote the wellbeing of the Community Council area including Dalbeattie. More about the Community Council.
We hope this part of the website helps you keep abreast of what is happening, how decisions are made, and helps you make representations directly to the appropriate body.
